Glenelg South

We first designed and built this garden in 2005. In 2022 it was time for a rework.

The new design drew on the best of the existing infrastructure and plantings and introduces some striking modern features. Strategic additions of crazy pave throughout the design extends and integrates the new with the old to create one harmonious landscape.

Taking full advantage of its surroundings, this new-meets-old design has created a lush and private garden in this suburban coastal backyard.

Our clients are sun- seekers, so we placed a poolside deck in the sunniest part of the garden and defined it with a gentle curve of vertical circular battens. To the other side of the pool, the long off form concrete seat/ daybed, cantilevered shade structure and boundary screening bring a modern edge to the garden.

Light, shade, texture and patterns feature throughout; from the shadows cast by the laser cut pergola on the render to the vertical timber battens to the extensive lighting on the features and plant life, including the impressive Bismarck Palm planted 18 years ago.
